Office for Youth of Palilula Municipality will be patron of a regional chess tournament for elementary and secondary schools students, which will be held on September 1st in the elementary school "Branko Miljkovic" in Nis with in Youth Day of the City of Nis. It was agreed at the meeting of President of Palilula Municipality Boban Dzunic and President of the Chess Federation of Nis district Igor Lukic and Coordinator of Office for Youth Palilula Municipality Ivana Jovic.

According to Igor Lukic, a chess tournament is intend for children from eight to eighteen years, it would be played in three groups of competitors in the category up to 10 years, to 14 years and in the category of 18 years. It is expected the participation of 60 contestants. The management of this sport association is planning that tournament to become a traditional activity and bring together a number of young athletes from the region. Support of the Office for Youth of Palilula Municipality to our alliance, highlight Lukic, is a good example of cooperation of organizations of civil society with local government organizations.

Palilula Municipality in the Action Plan of Development adopted by the UN definition, which applies to their work, that young are, "the most profitable long-term investment and they represent future of every society," - said Boban Dzunic. Our current project activities are focused in promoting the development of sports in educational institutions, and changes in behavior and perception of each individual in the protection of environment. Chess is a sport that is very popular among young people, does not require a big investment but it has an important role in psihophysical and mental development of children.

Ivana Jovic, Coordinator of Office for Youth of Palilula Municipality says that will after the chess tournament, which will be part of the Youth Day in Nis by decision of the City Assembly of 2011th , the youth of this city municipality will promote and other contents that is of interest and needs of this population .
